A CHILDHOOD ANCHORED IN LOVE
Gaul fondly reminisces about her childhood, which she describes as the favourite part of her life.
Raised in a close-knit family in Freeman Street, East La Penitence, Georgetown, she learnt the values of independence and self-reliance from an early age.
I grew up with my grandmother, who is also the pillar upon which I stand today, as she has taught me many lessons that I needed to know to navigate this thing called life.
From a tender age, I had a mindset of getting my own things; be a girl with your things. Another thing I have learnt growing up is to set goals and plans for your life and stick to that. To date, I can say in doing that I have accomplished about 90% of those goals in the timeframe I aspired to accomplish them, which I am grateful for.
ACADEMIC TRIUMPHS: TOPPING CLASSES AND PURSUING EXCELLENCE
This Georgetown resident attended the Comenius Primary School and progressed to St. Rose’s High School. Graduating as the best 6th-form student, Akeisha was placed on the school’s shield of honor.
She proceeded to the University of Guyana (UG) and topped her class in the Bachelor of Science in Marketing programme.

MIEVA, Akeisha’s brainchild, is more than just a business – it is a manifestation of her passion for making unknown businesses known.
The business name means success comes easily to you, physical comfort and wealth matters most.
Despite sitting on the business plan for over three years, Akeisha brought her vision to life when unemployment became the catalyst for action.
I am most proud to see my business plan come to life. Additionally, even after I finished the plan, it was just sitting there, and I honestly didn’t know where to start. My adopted brother (a close friend) said, “Hey, go register your business tomorrow. No more procrastinating, and honestly, that was the push I needed, and I was very grateful for that.
I didn’t even have the money to, but like I said, I’ve always had a really strong support team, and by way of this, I was able to pay to register my business, and the rest is history. It was started based on my passion for making unknown businesses known. My intention is to increase the visibility of businesses in Guyana by 95% by 2025. I found that many businesses, especially unique and peculiar ones when you hear of them, you’re like, what? I’ve never heard of you. I want to change this dynamic.
