With the high demands locally for more direct means to shop, Aquavibez Shopping promisingly will provide a serene, honest, and transparent shopping experience for customers.
Interestingly, the creation of this business was inspired by a few bad experiences between several shipping companies and the now young businesswoman, Tilesha Oudhoo, also known as “Tilo.”
“But who is Tilesha?’’ many would ask. In a nutshell, she was born to parents, Oudhoo and Celina Dhanpaul on 12th March 1999 at the West Demerara Regional Hospital. She then continued her growth process in Canal No. 1 Polder, Region 3, in the company of her siblings Anusha and Romel Oudhoo, respectively.
Nostalgically, she vividly recalls taking ‘’bull-boat rides on the weekends to the back-dams’’ with her father and siblings. There, ‘’I used to walk through rows of pineapple plants with our long sleeves, picked tangerines and kept them in our hats to eat during the journey to the farms.”
In the light of her childhood, Tilesha, in the year 2010, successfully graduated from the Two Brothers Primary School, earning a place at the West Demerara Secondary School.
Noteworthily, in 2015, after spending five (5) productive years in the aforementioned institution, she excelled in the Business Stream and graduated, copping the ‘Francis Narine Swammy Award.’
However, she confessed that during her tenure in Secondary School, her passion for graphic designing developed and took flight. She also posited that her skills were garnered from being self-taught in art, craft, and graphic design when she landed her first job at an Internet Café.
“My second job at Qualfon as a Customer Service Representative is the one that pushed me to open my own online shopping service because I became obsessed with the idea of ordering items online and the opening of packages,” she stated.
She also added that her “third job, working in the Accounts Department at Value 4U Inc., was the major breakthrough to learning the accounting base of running a business. So it was more about the experience for me rather than the academics, but I do plan on pursuing ACCA in the future.”
Having a deep love for online shopping, this 21-year-old woman relayed that after purchasing items from various online stores, she realized how costly it was compounded with the long waiting time.
As a result, she then encouraged her friends and family to consolidate their packages with that of hers, so they all proceeded to register for a mailbox.
“I could not put up with the rip-off costs and misleading information that other online shopping services shoved to me as their customer. As such, more of my friends and family kept coming on board for me to assist them with purchasing their items online, and thus, I decided to register for my own business,” she professed.
Subsequently, in 2019, Tilesha created ‘Aquavibez Shopping’ from the idea of personal love for water and the type of serene energy it brings. So, “aqua,” meaning water, and “vibez,” meaning energy, has taken to the true understanding of the initiative.
Citing the famous quote, “what you don’t want for yourself, you shouldn’t want for others,” the young businesswoman said that she aims to provide online shopping for persons with the privilege of prompt customer service.
“As the owner, I believe that everyone should be given the opportunity to save as much as they can, a couple thousand saved could buy a KFC meal for dinner if you’re too lazy to cook, or a toy for your child when you go home at the end of the day, or just for the purpose of saving money whenever the time a financial crisis arises.”
Therefore, since the onset of her business, Tilesha has stated that she has made online shopping and its process an easy task, coupled with timely delivery of items.
Additionally, she provides the option of persons sending their items to their loved ones within the United States of America and Canada, where the delivery service cost is low in Regions Three and Four.
“Most times, my new customers become my friends; thus, another specialty of ‘Aquavibez Shopping’ is the business collaborations that I do with other businesses, such as if I order food, or a custom made t-shirt, or print some bill books.”
“The reason for my wholehearted business collaborations is that one day each of us with small businesses right now will become big businesses in the future, and therefore we will need each other for basic needs. What we are all building together presently is the future, and we must do so cooperatively.” She added.
The 21-year-old entrepreneur credited her business’ success to the friendly customer service, as well as promised delivery timing.
Honesty and integrity are morals of my business because if an item has any delays, I explain to the customer honestly and clearly, instead of being dishonest.
Like any other business, Tilesha said that one of her challenges is the ability to deliver low-cost products to areas such as Essequibo, Mahaica, and Berbice.
I do receive a couple of orders for those locations, but the delivery arrangement to get the item to the customer is not very much accessible at the moment.
As such, within the next year, she plans on securing a delivery location or collaboration in these far-flung areas so that everyone can benefit from her services.
With an array of fresh ideas and business-like thinking, Tilesha has her eyes set on opening an official store with brands that people adore, like the Olmeca brand of watches. She also plans on opening other branches of ‘Aquavibez Shopping,’ as she ventures invigoratingly in the world of business.
