Homeline Furnishing, Rose Hall Branch, on Friday, donated a number of face masks and a thermometer to the municipality of Rose Hall Town to boost its fight against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
At a simple handing-over ceremony at the Mayor’s Office, the company that has now become a household name in Berbice, presented the items to Town Clerk, Natasha Griffith, and Mayor Chattergoon Ramnauth to protect their staff as well as screen vendors and patrons at the Rose Hall Market.
Rehana Hanif, on behalf of Homeline Furnishing, said the company recognised that the municipality was doing a good job and wanted to commend their efforts as well as to ensure that the necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) was available for the protection of workers so that they can continue the excellent job they are doing while being safe.
In response, Mayor Chatergoon Ramnauth said the private sector within the township has been very supportive, and with the donation made, they can now have thermometers at each of the three entrances of the market to screen customers, vendors, and staff as they enter.
Ramnauth added that with the private sector’s support, they have been able to sanitise the market and the entire town periodically while ensuring adequate hand-washing facilities are in place at the entrances of the market.
A strict ‘no mask, no entry’ policy at the market has led to fines for those refusing to adhere to the instruction, while businesses and residents are constantly being reminded of the guidelines to tackle COVID-19 via the towns’ public address system.
Recently, the Homeline Furnishing New Amsterdam branch made a similar donation to the office of the Commander of Region Six.
