We all have those moments when it is hard to express our feelings verbally, but many guitarists find it easier to show their emotions and creative side by playing the guitar.
Mark Andrew Alli is one such guitarist who expresses his feelings and creativity every time he picks up a guitar.
Mark was born on Thursday, 09th February 1995, at the Medical Arts Center to Hussein and Nalini Alli. He is the eldest of two children and grew up at La Bonne Intention, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
According to Mark, he grew up in a stable Christian home and was an avid lover of cricket and football. He attended the Sacred Heart Primary School before heading over to Annandale Secondary School, where he completed his Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC).
After completing his secondary education, Mark began studying for his Diploma in Computer Science and a Diploma in Project Management.
“I’m about to start a Master’s Degree in Communications and Marketing. I’ve dappled extensively in the fields mentioned above at different stages of my career to come up with a niche that pulls from key aspects of each,” Mark explained.
When asked about his passion for guitars, Mark said that it helps fuel his creative side.
“Most people get into the guitar to sound like a particular artist or band. And while this is also true in my case, I’ve found the guitar to be the perfect outlet for me to express my creativity. I’m primarily introverted, so I’d much prefer to be at home coming up with new riffs and ideas or just improvisation.”
He added, “Other than just the guitar, I also have a passion for music in general, in its various shapes and forms. Every genre has so many nuances that make it completely different from the next, whether that’s various time signatures or exotic scales. There’s a lot outside of the pop culture that anyone may find really intriguing. So I tend to use the guitar as a mechanism to study the various genres of music.”
Apart from guitars, the young man revealed that he is passionate about the art of photography and cinematography.
There’s just something about telling a story with visuals through my own perspective that just really intrigues me. My day to day job involves a lot of coding, and I’ve grown to have a love and hate relationship with it at times. I’m also a big fan of technology and studying the inner workings of how inventors come up with solutions to solve niche real-world problems.
Meanwhile, Mark is a Software Engineering/Communications Consultant and works with international projects and agencies to facilitate and create their communications goal.
I’ve had the incredible pleasure of working with companies in France, Germany, the UK, and all across the Caribbean. My second and more recent endeavor, North Asteroid, which I started just last year, was to create a local marketing agency to offer companies an inexpensive and subscription-based means of getting their business out there in a clear and recognizable manner.
He added that the North Asteroid’s subscription-based service allows companies to benefit from a full marketing and communications strategy at a fraction of the cost.
We usually schedule a quick meeting, where we analyze the marketing infrastructure of a company, then, create a yearly roadmap and plan. This would usually include a carefully drafted allotment of websites, social media optimization, commercials and infomercials, graphic design (ads), etc.
The services offered by North Asteroid are Web Development and Management, Graphic Design, Video Productions, Social Media Management, Search Engine Optimization, which is supplemented with a full-fledged marketing and communications strategy.
As I find the mistake local companies make is to just address one facet of this puzzle, with a Christmas ad or perhaps just pictures, when in fact, for a low monthly cost, you can address every aspect with a service such as ours.
The young businessman said that despite not being where he wants to be, his parents had paved the way for him to think big.
I wouldn’t particularly say I’m successful; I have many other dreams and aspirations that may truthfully never end. But, with that said, my parents have certainly paved the way for me to think big. And most importantly, God continues to be faithful.
When Mark is not playing the guitar, he is usually reading tons of books. Apart from that, he loves drawing.
Mark hopes to get into real estate and is currently eyeing other investments. He also hopes to travel the world. If you are looking to get your marketing taken care of, you should contact Mark.
