CHILDHOOD ROOTS IN BARTICA AND ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
This 21-year-old attended Hill View Nursery School and St. Anthony’s Primary School before moving on to Three Miles Secondary School.
Despite facing numerous challenges, I persevered and graduated as one of the top students in Region Seven, having completed 12 CXC subjects.
Building on this foundation, she embarked on her higher education journey at UG, reading for a Bachelor’s degree in Economics.
In my second year at the university, I achieved another milestone by securing a fully funded scholarship from the Government of Guyana, which provided invaluable support for the remainder of my undergraduate studies.
This scholarship not only affirmed my dedication to academic pursuits but also fuelled my determination to make the most of the opportunities presented to me. Through these experiences, I have cultivated a strong work ethic, resilience, and a passion for learning, all of which have contributed to my academic success and personal growth.

Besides, her university journey was not without challenges. Relocating to Georgetown at the age of 17 brought about initial fears and anxieties.
The unexpected shift to online classes during the COVID-19 pandemic added unique obstacles, including unreliable internet access and financial constraints.
During that period, my mother’s persistent advice resonated in my mind, urging me to overcome my shyness and establish connections with others. It marked a crucial moment when I consciously chose to step outside my comfort zone and actively engage with my surroundings. Embracing this challenge turned out to be a transformative experience.
I gradually but steadfastly began interacting with my peers, participating in diverse campus activities, and attending social events. The decision to overcome my social barriers not only allowed me to broaden my horizons but also led to the formation of deep, enduring friendships.
