Travel by speed boats around Guyana can be fun, safe, cheap and fast. With more speed boats, plying the routes between the islands in the Essequibo, across the Demerara river and the Berbice river, there has been regularization and stronger safety measures in the industry. Some of these improvements include better communication protocols for operators, the mandatory life jacket requirement and regular boat inspections.
Despite these improvements, there are many people who are still fearful of speed boat travel.
