In 2013, cinemas reemerged in Guyana after a total collapse. The last straw was when Astor closed its doors in Waterloo and Church Streets Georgetown.
Now we have a new breed of cinemas; Princess Movie Theater in Providence and Movie Town at the GiftLand Mall. The older generation says that nothing can compare to the cinemas in the past.
The times when you were required to walk 5-10 miles (from lack of transportation or extra money to travel) to go see the new movie of the time. “The good ole days were the best”, says Mrs. Edwards (now at age 78). “[…] At month-end time we used to look forward to go to the cinema.”
